Information Session on January 16 at 12:30pm in Room 4016 In the summer of 2020, Osgoode is participating in the Institute for the Future of Law Practice Internship and Boot Camp. Interested Osgoode students are invited to apply to join the program which consists of two parts: (1) an intensive training Boot Camp from May 12, 2020 to May 28, 2020. (2) a 10-week paid internship position in legal operations at a legal employer in Toronto. The intensive training Boot Camps will be held at Osgoode Professional Development in Toronto, Northwestern University Faculty of Law in Chicago, and the University of Colorado Faculty of Law in Boulder, Colorado. There is no tuition fee; however, students will be required to cover their travel and accommodation costs while at the boot camp. After completing the boot camp, students participate in a 10-week paid internship with a legal services employer in Toronto. These positions will start early to mid-June, depending on specific employer needs. Applications must be submitted no later than January 24, 2020. Applicants must also complete the Procertas Legal Technology Assessment for Word and Excel and obtain a "Qualified" level of proficiency in each program. After you complete the IFLP online application form you will be invited by Procertas to the Legal Technology Assessment. Students will be notified if they are selected for the first round of IFLP interviews on a rolling basis but not later than the end of Feburary. Applicants will be notified by mid-March if they have been selected to be presented to employers. IFLP/Osgoode will select the candidates to be presented to employers based on their knowledge of student interests, capabilities and the employer’s job description. Students will then be responsible for coordinating a mutually agreeable time to meet with prospective employers. Students will be advised by no later than the end of March if they have been selected for an internship and therefore accepted to the program. IMPORTANT: The internship positions are not conventional summer law student positions and these roles are not part of firm summer student programs. Students selected for these internships will be working with interdisciplinary teams within firms or law departments that are engaged in the business operations of the firm, including pricing, legal process mapping, legal project management, data analysis, legal product development, and technology implementation. The boot camp is a non-credit course. This opportunity is open to domestic JD 1L and 2L students and OPD LLM students. All applicants must not have any outstanding academic issues and be legally able to work in a full-time IFLP placement during the summer of 2020. With regard to OPD LLM students currently enrolled in an OsgoodePD LLM specialization, students must be returning in the fall of 2020. If a student is continuing their LLM after the winter 2020 term, they must be able and willing to take a leave of absence from their LLM in the summer 2020 term, if they are selected for this program.
